Share our Dream - Section for deadline sale, 20 January 2026
3B Braemar Place, Nelson South, Nelson
A one-off opportunity to buy a section in our established eco-village in sunny Nelson. This is your chance to join a close-knit, intentional community with a focus on sustainability, shared resources, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Three new Lambs
Yesterday three new lambs were born to one tired looking mama sheep. Unfortunately, the runt of the litter couldn't get up on her feet to feed and was eventually left alone by the ewe. The community stepped in and wrapped up the little lamb in a jumper to keep her warm. "Marshmallow" is already a beloved member of the village and gets regular milk feeds 6 times a day.
Planting 600 natives with the Council
A big THANK YOU to the 23 volunteers who helped get 600 native plants in the ground over the weekend in the Grampians Reserve.
The planting day was part of a larger ongoing project being delivered in partnership with Braemar Eco Village residents through Nelson City Council's Adopt a Spot programme.
Village Green Tree Felling
Great action in the Village Green today. Cranes, men in hard hats hanging from ropes with chainsaws, chippers, diggers and noise. But most importantly the leaning poplar has gone ... a much bigger tree and a much bigger hazard than we realized. Thanks to Nick and the team from Atom." - Trevor
Excerpt from Stuff
Lindsay Wood’s home at Nelson’s Braemar Eco Village is an experiment that’s never been finished.
The former eco-architect designed it himself, wrapping the home in recycled cladding and insulation, powering it with photovoltaic panels on his roof. He’s still honing the passive heating system, but the composting toilet works fine.
Land Purchased by Braemar Village
Nelson College has received $750,000 for a 4.7ha block of land at the foot of the Grampians, but a man involved with the group that bought the land is keeping quiet on what it might now be used for. Nelson College Trust Foundation chairman John Towns said settlement was due in September. The money from the sale would be put into an endowment fund and invested by the college trust.
Kim's original Proposal
Eco village proposal for 1 Braemar Place
We live beside each other but our lives are our own. Community does not mean we must inhabit each other's pockets. Community means we are there to create pockets of humanity that journey alongside aside each other.
